Miss Meadows responds in a way that indicates she's some kind of monster of optimism, and her interesting habit of taking every turn of phrase literally (after an awkward amorous encounter, her partner asks "Is this your idea of pillow talk?" and she replies "Pillows don't talk," oy) puts one in mind. Miss Meadows' clothes, combined with her hairstyles and maybe the makeup, are the things that make this movie so enjoyable. For any fashion lover, this is a reason alone to watch it.

It feels as though Hopkins is hitting beats, rather than allowing the story to unfold organically. I have never really been a Katie Holmes fan. I have seen two of her films, First Daughter, when I was a kid, and Batman Begins, but never watched Dawson's Creek, nor really have. Karen Leigh Hopkins' directorial debut, Miss Meadows, is not your typical Katie Holmes film.
On the surface, the prim and proper woman who's carved a fairy-tale-like world for herself in a crime-filled suburb seems very Holmes, but the pistol she hides in her purse suggests otherwise. Perhaps the filmmaker's intent was to subtly suggest the surreal aspects of the Much like Nightcrawler's Louis Bloom, Miss Meadows's eponymous protagonist, played by The Best Sci-Fi Movies on Netflix Right Now. These films show us utopias, dystopias, distant planets. Miss Meadows is a school teacher with impeccable manners and grace.
