Thank goodness we can still produce movies as entertaining as this one! i would love to see another. excellent work by Helen Hunt. And of course by all the characters in the movie. The society at large will always remain that way, no matter how many good/bad women come and go!
The movie flashes back to the not-so-vague miseries of this character's life—she's also named Sarah—not too long before. As cranky as much of the movie made me, Pastoll, Blaney, and especially Bolger all contrive to deliver as satisfying a climax and dénouement to this saga as one. We don't learn immediately how her husband died; but, given that we meet her covered in blood before the movie backtracks to fill in the blanks, we suspect that it may not have been from natural causes. A Good Woman is a problematic review for a writer of my ilk. The issue is I usually dedicate *zero* time to plot information because I always want the viewer to see it with fresh eyes, ideally not knowing what's coming next. A Good Woman is dull movie where two thirds of the movie is characters gossiping and the third act has a twist, that doesn't really make sense, but is needed to move the plot forward. The acting was bad, cinematography average and the writing terrible. There were also many plot points that were forgotten.
